Yes i agree Owen! I see our dogs all day long doing good things athletically and i know many can do more. But i would like to see the obedience side of things improved on.... It would be very impressive for Bull breeds if we could all get together ans show what a perfectly behaved group of dogs we have as well as great athletes. The lure running is good fun but all that choking of the lure and using bite sticks is a bit past it for me... No dog is past basic obedience regardless of thier so called 'drive'. It would be nice to see the event more geared to the relationship between handler and dog - rather than baiting the dog - it be on command. It has been something we have been really really working with our lot - its very rewarding. I also have a friend that is a qualified mountain rescue trainer that said he would give us some time to help with some basic search and rescue work with the dogs. Hi Jess "Nail on head" A new test (event) where it is NOT focused on Baiting or Prey drive alone More of a Bruce Lee type attitude whaaaaaaaaaaa Mind over body!!!!!!!! LOL Keep the ideas coming people Tarren

I would like to see something like a doggy asault course..This would test obediance and correct conformation...but it's having the land to set up a permanent course. I would like to see peace's of apparatus like the one in this vid and other type's of apparatus. www.metacafe.com/watch/923497/bull_terrier_protection_work/This would also make me more interested in getting involved in this type of testing. I would also like to see things done unbaited as ive said befor when baiting all your doing is proving the dog has preydrive nothing else.

Nice video Glen - We are working on getting something together. We are just doing the research and speaking to as many people as we can. We know a few people that will help get us started and come and work with us and our dogs but its still early stages.... We also have the room to get a big good agility set up - Just getting around to setting it up! LOL This video is great example of what we could achieve - Its a huge responsibility though and something that cant be taken lightly BUT you can see the outcome is very impressive. Its just about getting the right expertise around us to really get the most out of the dogs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVx6Dlh8GzoIts a long one but really really worth watching....

great clip jess, my old boy is well trained but that boy is some think else stunning and great to see it has give me a few new ones like walking around and then around again just to show how steady that the dogs can be when fully trained in PP and obedience and not a loose canon like some people think, me and a mate are going to start to help train a few friends dogs in obedience and PP and point them in the right direction with there dogs on days in brum just looking for the right land around here now so we can get started and i can't wait. It is not a five minute job but a dog is for life and your training never stops as far as i am concerned all was up dating and adding new ones or trying new things out, my boy had not been on a sleeve for about ten years but i have all was kept that type of training up with tug toys and with hand signals as well, as soon as he seen the sleeve he new wot to do but the best was when my mate ask me to choke him of the sleeve ;D just one hand signal from me was enough the look on my mates face as i think that he though that i was a bit of a bull shitter at how i train my dogs to a high standed, it was the 1st time that he had seen my dog and only for 5 mins at that as well, just because i dont breed any more or have never compete with dogs dose not mean that i don't know fuck all about training, breeding or keeping dogs, i have kept different working type mastiff and bull breeds now for 20 years and before that i had a doberman x GSD from two working parents. only thing wrong with this is that i kept him on his chain but no harm done as it was just a little blast and not a long session at all just get him and then leave. He is from some good old stock and was waging his tail and looked proud as punch on his walk back home and calmed down straight away. This is his new house mate ;D ;D ;D kill crazy my arse but in the wrong hands then thats a different story one off the main resins why i never bred him.

Those videos were incredible, very impressive. I have always stayed away from PP training just because I always encouraged my Pits and now Staffy to be friendly with people and would never tolerate any hint of man aggression but the MrK9 video was amazing, a real credit to them and their dogs.
I would love to see some of our Bull Breeds doing obedience work like that, might even spur me on to do a bit more with Buddy.

If my dogs showed any sign of aggression with out me telling it to apart from guarding my home i would think that i have failed as being a keeper and trainer of my dog no mater wot breed. Train it in obedience thirst to a very high level thirst that's the key to having a steady dog.

Yes fair point, I think first establish pack leader/follower status and then get a good level of obedience then take things in which ever direction you want. I must admit I did think watching those videos that the PP training could produce a better dog that understands it can only show aggression of any sort when asked to do so and therefore could make a more reliable dog in general.

Trained right it makes it a much more reliable dog but do it wrong then you have got a liability on your hands. all was seek professional advise.

I agree with that, PP is not a direction I would go myself I'm more interested some of the general obedience but I the videos were very impressive, I struggle to get my little guy to recall when he sees a bird or rabbit let alone "out" on command.
