Poppy's coat has suffered a bit after the whelping of the pups i know its normal but i dont like it!! LOL None of my dogs have ever suffered with a thinning coat so i wouldnt know what works or not, i wondered if any can recommend a good supplement that can boost her coat slightly.
She is on a really good food but i just would like to to give something a bit extra...
There is lots on the market but wondered if anyone has any experience with any one product?
Thanks

I used flax seed oil for a long time and wasn't impressed. It has to be refrigerated once opened, goes off after six weeks and is carcenogenic when it goes off!
It also doesn't contain much of the active ingredient, flax seeds are packed with fatty acids but it's very difficult to extract them from the seed pods, the oil doesn't really contain much.
For joints I would use Cod liver oil but for the coat I would use evening primrose oil, that seems to be very effective for dry, flaky, thin coats.

It's very similar to Cod liver oil only less convenient with less fatty acids and more expensive.

I give mine primrose oil, extra virgin olive oil and flax seed oil everyday.. it may seem a bit ott giving all 3 but their coats look better than ever since I have been and now I dont want to stop giving any one of them.
Apparently salmon oil is good as well but I havent been able to find it anywhere..

I will grab some next time we are up the equine shop i have seen it in there before Thanks guys. To be honest Pops is back to her usual self now it didn't take her too long, but i think i will still add it to their meals. I have used Salmon oil before with Bert, i used to use this stuff - www.lintbells.com/product/index/id/12All the oils they do are very very good quality. Thank you
